Organizing

The annual ACM (Association of Computing Machinery) CHI (Computer Human Interaction) conference is typically organized by hundreds of volunteers, including an organizing committee of track and venue chairs, sub-committee chairs and associate chairs for the papers program, student volunteers, jury members, reviewers and many more. The ACM CHI Steering Committee is responsible for overseeing the running of the ACM CHI Conference series. The CHI conference is hosted by ACM SIGCHI, the Special Interest Group on Computer-Human Interaction which is managed by the SIGCHI Executive Committee. SIGCHI is one of many Special Interest Groups of the ACM, and by sponsoring CHI, the ACM takes on the financial risk and the legal responsibility for the conference.
